Abstracts
Can I submit an abstract outside of the mentioned conference tracks and sub-themes?
Yes, provided it falls into our broad theme you are still invited to submit and the Editorial Board will make suggested changes where necessary.
How many papers can one person present?
A maximum of 2 papers can be presented by one person.
REGISTRATIONS & PAYMENTS
How do I register for ICERDA 2017?
Registration for ICERDA is done through completing the following form here. Upon completion, payment is to be made here. Please note, you are not fully registered for the conference until payment is received and confirmed by the conference Secretariat. If you do not receive confirmation from the Secretariat within 5 working days, please contact us immediately.
How do I pay for the conference?
You can pay for the conference via our online portal hosted by the University of Sussex. Alternatively, please contact the Conference Secretariat for an invoice with the relevant currency (Ghanaian Cedi or US Dollar) account to make a direct payment.
Can I pay at the conference venue?
No, we will not be accepting payment at the conference venue. Any payments made at the venue are subject to a surcharge of $60 (or the cedi equivalent).
Is the registration fee per paper or per person?
The registration fee is per person. Therefore, if multiple authors or multiple colleagues from the same organisation are attending the conference then each individual has to pay the respective conference fee.
Where can I get a receipt for the conference registration fees?
Online payments will receive a receipt automatically via email confirmation. For direct payments to the ICERDA bank account, please send an email to registrations@icerda-africa.org to request a receipt.
What does the conference fee include?
The conference fee covers morning coffee and tea, 2 snack breaks, 2 lunches, conference materials, attendance to all plenary and parallel sessions as well as the tour on the 3rd day. The conference fee does not include flights, visa costs, accommodation or transportation.
Can I receive a refund on my registration fee?
The cancellation policy on registration fees can be found below:
- Registrations cancelled within 2 months (60 days) before the conference are eligible to a refund of 75% of the registration fee.
- Registrations cancelled less than 60 but more than 30 days before the conference will be eligible to a refund of 50% of the registration fee.
- Cancellations that are made less than 30 days before the conference date will not be eligible for any refund.
Are there any discounts available?
Early bird discounts are available for early registrations made and paid for by July 7th 2016. Student registration fees are already discounted and remain at this rate until registration closes.
PUBLICATIONS
Will all papers presented be published in the ICERDA journal - JEDA?
No, the best competitive paper will receive automatic acceptance by the Journal of Education and Development in Africa (JEDA), subject to requested editorial changes. Successful authors who present their papers at the conference and all competitive papers accepted for the conference will be reviewed for the Journal of Education and Development in Africa (JEDA) however they do not receive automatic acceptance.
Can authors who did not present or attend ICERDA submit a paper for publication?
No, only authors/presenters who attended the conference are eligible to submit full papers for review.
How do I submit my paper for review to be published in JEDA?

Where are the conference proceedings/journal articles published?
All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference Book of Abstracts complete with an ISBN. After the conference, all accepted full papers will be published in JEDA complete with ISSN. More details can be found here.
Do we need to pay an extra amount for publication?
No, publication in the conference proceedings (Book of Abstracts) is free of charge. If your paper is selected for JEDA, the same applies.
PRESENTATIONS
How long is each oral presentation?
Each presenter will be allocated 15 minutes to present followed by a maximum of 5 minutes for questions, commentary and feedback from the audience.
What kind of technical equipment will be available at the conference venue for presenters?
- Laptop
- Projector
- Laser Pointer
- Sound system/speakers for videos/audio
Can more than one author present?
Yes, it is entirely up to the authors how they manage their time however, this arrangement must fall strictly within the 15 minutes time allocation to be fair to other presenters and to allow conference proceedings to flow smoothly.
Can I send a substitute delegate to present on my behalf?
In the event that you are no longer able to attend, please inform the Secretariat of your replacement at least one week in advance of the conference date.

Does any university/institute/organisation have the opportunity to collaborate with the conference as a hosting partner or an academic partner?
Yes, please send an email with your proposal to Ms. Pearl Boateng on info@icerda-africa.org to explore this option.
VISAS & ACCOMMODATION
How can I get an official letter of invitation/visa letter for the conference?
Please send an email to registrations@icerda-africa.org with the following information for a visa invitation letter after payment of the conference fee.
- Full name (exactly as it appears in your passport)
- Passport number
- Country of citizenship
- Current occupation and country in which you work/reside
- Name and address of Embassy/Consulate you are applying to
- Date of arrival and date of departure from Ghana
- Type of visa you are applying for
- Where you will be lodging
