ICERDA 2016
Theme: Towards a vision of education for sustainable development in Africa.
The 2nd International Conference on Education Research For Development in Africa (ICERDA 2016) was held from 3rd-5th October 2016 at the Swiss Spirit Hotel and Suites Alisa in North Ridge, Accra, Ghana with over 200 participants from over 10 countries worldwide. ICERDA 2016 also witnessed the launch of the Ghana Education Research Association and the Journal of Education and Development, a journal of ICERDA.
Our Special Guest was Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana and our keynote speakers included:
- Emeritus Prof. Keith Lewin - University of Sussex, UK, who spoke on the topic: Will the SDGs Disrupt Underdevelopment in Education in Sub-Saharan Africa?
- Prof. Ernest Aryeetey - Secretary General of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana spoke on the topic: Making Education Work for Development in Africa: What Works Under What Conditions.
- Prof. Liesel Ebersöhn - Professor and Secretary General of the World Education Research Association (WERA), who spoke on the topic: Sustaining Well-being in Education by Considering Southern African Pathways to Resilience.
